Land Use Reviews

Criteria for Reviews

The Kiowa Conservation District is mandated by the State of Colorado in the Colorado Statutes Title 30; Government, Article 28; Planning and Building Codes, 136; Referral and review requirements are as follows. 

CRS 30-28-136. Referral and review requirements.                                                                                                                   f) "To the local conservation district board within the county for explicit review and recommendations regarding soil suitability, floodwater problems, and watershed protection.  Such referral shall be made even though all or part of a proposal subdivision is not located within the boundaries of a conservation district."                                                         

The Kiowa Conservation District  also makes recommendations on the following conservation issues:

  • Noxious Weed Control
  • Riparian and Stream Protection
  • Livestock Grazing
  • Soil Suitability and Geologic Hazards
  • Flood Protection
  • Erosion and Sediment Control
  • Drainage Concerns
  • Endangered Species Protection
  • Watershed Water Quality Protection

Fee Schedule for Reviews

Fees are paid by the individual or company making a land use request through the county.  The following fees were adopted October 15, 2003 and pay for the following services our District provides:

  • Administrative expenses in performing the reviews
  • Conservation education to landowners, especially those with small acreages
  • Augment funding for maintenance of 64 watershed protection dams for which our District is solely responsible

Conceptual Plan Flat Fee $200.00
Preliminary Plat Base Fee   $150.00
Lots 1-100 (per lot)   $10.00
Lots 101-500 (per lot)   $5.00
Lots 501-1000 (per lot)   $3.50
Lots 1001 and over (per lot)     $2.50
Final Plan Flat Fee $175.00
