How the Seedling Tree Program Works

These seedling trees and shrubs are selected specially for Colorado's climate and are grown at the Colorado State Forest Service Nursery in Fort Collins, Colorado.

If you live in Colorado, you're in the right place!  Each year in November, we'll send each person on our mailing list an order form.  They will have until the middle of March to order.  The earlier you order, the more likely the plants you want will still be available.  "First Come, First Served"  The date for tree pickup is scheduled for usually the second week in April in Kiowa, Colorado at the Elbert County Fairgrounds.  If you pace and order, you will be notified by postcard, and/or email of time and date for seedling tree pickup.

Conditions of sale:

  1.     You must own at least two (2) acres of land.
  2.     This nursery stock must not be used in ornamental or landscaping plantings.
  3.     No Plant purchased may be resold as a living plant.
  4.     Bare Root trees are available in multiples of 50 per species only!
  5.     Potted trees are available in multiples of 30 per species only!
  6.     Payment must accompany order. Refunds will not be given for cancelled  orders after March 1st 2008.
  7.     If trees ordered are not available a refund will be issued, unless a substitution is requested.

E-mail or call us at 303 621-2070 ext. 101 if you want to be on our seedling tree mailing list.  Order forms will be available in November.

The program reaches a few surrounding states.   If you want trees and you are not in the Kiowa Conservation District which covers all of Western Elbert County, parts of Arapahoe, El Paso and Douglas Counties in Colorado, then you can contact the Colorado State Forest Service nursery by e-mail or phone #970-491-8429 to see if they can help you contact other cooperators of the program in your area for ordering.
